Postcards, Paint and Orphan Annies
I have been so bad about blogging of late,
due to distractions, obligations, and actually some creating.
I'm so excited to have a long 3-day weekend to PLAY!.
Yesterday, I played with painting card stock paper
with ink sprays and golden paints.Glimmer Mist is my new favorite spray!!!
I also experimented with making paper out
of recycled "shower" paper and tissue.
That's right, at my cousin's wedding shower,
I shamelessly asked if I could have the bag
of paper headed for the trash.....They thought I was nuts {big grin}.
Just using scrap envelopes, some wrapping paper with pink roses, glitter, and pink and/or red tissue paper,I made different shades of yummy pink paper.I used a small amount of sparkly silver paper in some batches, and it created such pretty twinkly flecks. No batch was alike, and I made about 15 batches of 2.
Recently I found this old books store, with tons of vintage post cards.I bought a bunch, and created thesewhimsical sentiment creations, by addingsewing stitches, typed words, varnish and embellishedwith beads, charms and and wire.
I decoupaged a post card on each these 2 cigar boxes, added wooden balls for the feet, and lined the insides with wallpaper.
I used some of the postcards to make small note pads.
Last week I stopped back at the books store and theywent out of business! Bummer!!!I thought I had found a good source for postcards!
Today I will make dresses for my Orphan Annie dolls
using leftover scraps. Last weekend I whipped up 20 dolls
for my upcoming craft fair in November.
Frankly I've been obsessing and stressing over this fair.So I feel better that I have taken some time to create.I'll spend the rest of this weekend, finishing my dolls, and making interesting paper for journals I hope to make. On that note....time to get back to playing. I hope you are having a great weekend as well!Ciao!
